On Tuesday, the El Paso Tigers's game was all tied up 10-10 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Canutillo 38-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for El Paso.
Leading El Paso to victory were Abby Aragon and Natalia Thomas. Aragon scored 14 points along with two steals, while Thomas scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Aragon is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Emma Guevara was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Canutillo's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Rebekah Perez, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds, and Mikira Wilkes who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Perez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played.
El Paso has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season. As for Canutillo, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-11.
El Paso will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Chapin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. As for Canutillo, they will head out on the road to face off against Hanks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hanks will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Canutillo surely won't give up without a fight.
