Baseball Game Preview: IMG Academy Navy Ascenders vs. Aubrey Rogers Patriots

The IMG Academy Navy Ascenders will face off against the Aubrey Rogers Patriots at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

IMG Academy Navy not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over Wiregrass Ranch.

Omari Swinton was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for IMG Academy Navy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-8 otherwise. Eduardo Abuchaibe Florez was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Aubrey Rogers got the win against Oasis on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Sharks: they've now won three in a row.

Aubrey Rogers also got a great performance from Kaiden Thompson as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Harry Lyons, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was David Amaya, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Aubrey Rogers pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for IMG Academy Navy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.
