Capital is 0-10 against Eagle since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Capital Golden Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Eagle Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. Capital is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Tuesday, things could have been worse for Capital, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-32 loss to Borah. While losing is never fun, Capital can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Borah is ranked 25th).
Meanwhile, Eagle scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 61-40 margin over Borah. With that victory, Eagle brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.
Paige Cofer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Eagle's points. Berkley Jones was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Capital bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.6 points per game. As for Eagle, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Capital came up short against Eagle in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 39-28. Will Capital have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
