The Chandler Wolves and the Hamilton Huskies (ranked 43 and 95 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest. Chandler really took it to Hamilton for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-13 win at home. The result was nothing new for Chandler, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Chandler got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was CaLil Valentine out in front who rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns. Valentine is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Blake Heffron, who threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.3% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Chandler's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Jeremiah Young and his two sacks.
Hamilton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Knight, who picked up 74 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The victory makes it two in a row for Chandler and bumps their season record up to 8-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 39 points. As for Hamilton, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.
Chandler will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Highland is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games. Hamilton will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Liberty knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten games -- so hopefully Hamilton likes a good challenge.
