Basketball Recap: Durango Has No Trouble Against the Meadows School

While Durango didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against The Meadows School Mustangs on Saturday as the Durango Trailblazers made off with a 63-42 victory. The Trailblazers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Justin Morrow continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. His morning made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fabian Gomez, who posted ten points and eight rebounds.

Despite the defeat, The Meadows School saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Uzo Nwapa dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Nwapa also set a new season-high mark in blocks with four. Grant Moses was another key player, putting up nine points along with five assists and five boards.

The win made it two in a row for Durango and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for The Meadows School, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Durango will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Upland at 12:30 p.m. on January 2nd. Durango is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season. As for The Meadows School, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-46 defeat against Legacy on the 26th.
