Baseball Recap: Smithville Has No Trouble Against Central Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Smithville). They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Central Christian Comets on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Smithies.

Jace Leach was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Jax Riggenbach was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Leach wasn't the only one making solid contact: Smithville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

The victory got Smithville back to even at 2-2. As for Central Christian, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will challenge Rittman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Central Christian, they will take on Buckeye Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
