Softball Recap: Celebration Has No Trouble Against Gateway

Celebration's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Gateway Panthers 17-1. Considering the Storm have won seven matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bella Bayona was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Bayona was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Celebration let Gigi Reyes and Ariana Rosado run wild. Reyes went a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Rosado got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Rosado a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maria La Cruz, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Celebration has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs over those games. As for Gateway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Celebration will challenge Oasis Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gateway, they will square off against Satellite at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scorpions have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
