O'Connor has gone 8-2 against Taft recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will host the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. O'Connor will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, O'Connor got the win against Stevens by a conclusive 13-2. Considering the Panthers have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lexie Ganter and Meiko Dominguez did most of the damage at the plate: Ganter went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Dominguez scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Amiya Jasso was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
O'Connor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Taft, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Brennan 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since March 1st.
Alyssa Rangel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lorena Ramos was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Hannah Flores, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
O'Connor's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Taft, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. O'Connor has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Taft struggles in that department as they've averaged .530. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
O'Connor was able to grind out a solid victory over Taft when the teams last played back in March, winning 4-0. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
