The Wasatch Wasps will head out on the road to face off against the Spanish Fork Dons at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Wasatch will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Wasatch posted their closest win since November 21, 2023 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cedar Valley and snuck past 52-49. That's two games straight that Wasatch has won by exactly three points.
Wasatch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ashley Garner, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds. Garner hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Danielle Garner was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Spanish Fork had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 44-33 victory over Springville on Tuesday.
Wasatch's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Spanish Fork, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11.
Everything went Wasatch's way against Spanish Fork when the teams last played back in January as Wasatch made off with a 64-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wasatch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
