It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Crescent had no problem doing just that on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 52-14 victory over the Union County Yellowjackets. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 38 points or more this season.
A big part of Crescent's win came down to the chemistry between Mason Evans and his top target Amiri Acker. Evans threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt while Acker gained 244 total yards and three touchdowns. Evans' passing game has become a key predictor of Crescent's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. PJ Deveaux did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 59 receiving yards.
Crescent was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 237 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.
Despite the loss, Union County still got an impressive performance from Qa Brannon, who rushed for 81 yards and one score on only eight carries, and also threw for 101 yards on 11 of 20 attempts.
Crescent is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.3 points over those games. As for Union County, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10.
