The Cass City Red Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Kingston Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cass City is looking to tack on another W to their 14-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Cass City has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Bad Axe with a sharp 52-30 victory on Friday. Given Cass City's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Bad Axe is ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Kingston pushed their score all the way to 56 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The game between Kingston and Oakland Christian wasn't particularly close, with Kingston falling 71-56. Even though they lost, Kingston's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Despite their loss, Kingston saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Owen Corlis , who scored 22 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. The match was Corlis 's third in a row with at least ten points. Austin Deroseau was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Cass City's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Kingston, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Cass City strolled past Kingston in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 57-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cass City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
