Football Game Preview: Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars vs. Amplus Academy Archers

The Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars will challenge the Amplus Academy Archers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pinecrest Academy Cadence has seven straight victories, Amplus Academy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Sierra Vista, who was ranked 12th at the time (Pinecrest Academy Cadence was ranked ninth). Pinecrest Academy Cadence walked away with a 25-13 win over Sierra Vista on Friday.

It was another big night for Leyton Gasperosky, who rushed for 47 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 142 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards she has posted since back in February of 2024. Pinecrest Academy Cadence also got a significant boost from Amelia Woolard, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Patricia Monacelli.

Meanwhile, Amplus Academy suffered their closest defeat since February 5, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Rancho by a score of 22-20.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.3 points per game. As for Amplus Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Pinecrest Academy Cadence lost to Amplus Academy at home by a decisive 28-14 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Pinecrest Academy Cadence avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
