Austin has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Bowie Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Austin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
Austin's 30-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a hard 53-38 fall against Steele. While losing is never fun, Austin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 736th, while Steele is ranked 108th).
Austin's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Foley Anderson, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds, and Jill Shirk who scored 13 points. The match was Shirk's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Bowie has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Dripping Springs with a sharp 55-35 victory on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for Bowie as they're now sitting on three straight.
Their wins bumped Austin to 5-12 and Steele to 12-6.
Austin strolled past Bowie when the teams last played back in January by a score of 48-29. Will Austin repeat their success, or does Bowie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
