The East Laurens Falcons can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They breezed by Jefferson County on the road to the tune of 64-22. With East Laurens ahead 33-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
East Laurens got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was McKayela Tanner out in front who scored 19 points along with eight assists and six steals. Tanner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed five or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Givens, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Jefferson County's loss came despite strong showings from Jaelissia Reeves and NaTalyah Lane. Reeves almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 20 rebounds, while Lane scored no points.
Even though they lost, Jefferson County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
East Laurens has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Jefferson County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-18.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Laurens will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Jefferson County, they will square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Swainsboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday.
