The Wakulla War Eagles lost against the Gadsden County Jaguars back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Wakulla took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wakulla in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost five in a row.
Wakulla's loss came despite strong showings from Kyendra Thomas and Amariyah Donaldson. Thomas scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Donaldson scored six points along with ten rebounds and three blocks. Thomas is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least five every time she's taken the court this season. Xzaveria Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Gadsden County found their leader in underclassman Camyria Clemons, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clemons has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Key, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Wakulla's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Gadsden County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakulla won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. As for Gadsden County, they will head out on the road to challenge the Baby Rattlers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully FAMU DRS focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 40 on Saturday.
