Basketball Recap: Pinellas Park Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Devonte Hunter and Gregory Chaney

Pinellas Park lost against Dunedin back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pinellas Park Patriots took an 80-61 bruising from the Dunedin Falcons. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pinellas Park's loss came despite strong showings from Gregory Chaney and Devonte Hunter. Chaney went 8 for 19 on his way to 22 points in addition to six assists and six boards, while Hunter went 8 of 19 en route to 24 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. What's more, Chaney also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Adrian Montano also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Dunedin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but SHERWIN SIMMONS led the charge by dropping a double-double on 25 points and 14 boards. SIMMONS's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was JALEN JACKSON, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 23 points and eight assists.

Pinellas Park's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Dunedin, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Pinellas Park will host Boca Ciega at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dunedin has already played their next match, a 52-49 loss against Canterbury on the 18th.
