Woodsville has gone 6-1 against Colebrook Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Engineers will take on the Mohawks at 4:00 p.m. Woodsville will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Woodsville proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Gorham, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Engineers have posted since April 25th.
Meanwhile, Colebrook Academy never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Moultonborough Academy as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Mohawks have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Vinny Santamaria was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Colebrook Academy let Dylan Dauphnais and Rory Shaw run wild. Dauphnais went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Shaw went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Dauphnais a new career-high.
Woodsville's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Colebrook Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Everything went Woodsville's way against Colebrook Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Woodsville made off with a 14-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Engineers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
