On Wednesday, the Box Elder Bees's game was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 47-39 win over Woods Cross. That's another feather in the cap for Box Elder, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Box Elder's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madi Thurgood, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Thurgood is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamri Andersen, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katie King, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. King is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Mari Nichols was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Box Elder has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Woods Cross, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Box Elder will square off against the Vikings at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Viewmont focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. As for Woods Cross, they will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Clearfield is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.
