The Andover Central Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Maize South Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Andover Central comes in on three and Maize South on ten.
On Tuesday, Andover Central escaped with a win against Salina Central by the margin of a single free throw, 41-40.
It was another big night for Hayden Snodgrass, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Haven Deckinger, who scored nine points along with two steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Maize South gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 80-14 victory over Newton. Given Maize South's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Newton is ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Andover Central's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Maize South, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Andover Central might still be hurting after the 58-34 loss they got from Maize South when the teams last played back in November of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Andover Central was down 35-15.
