The Saegertown Panthers will face off against the Lakeview Sailors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lakeview will be up against a hot Saegertown squad: the team just extended their winning streak to seven. Everything went the Panthers' way against Rocky Grove on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-3 victory.
Everett Gardner made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Blake Burchill was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Wyatt Burchill was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Saegertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Lakeview made easy work of Cambridge Springs on Wednesday and carried off an 11-1 win. Winning may never get old, but the Sailors sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Like Saegertown, Lakeview also got a great game from a two-way player: Parker Montgomery. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Montgomery was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Owen Dye looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, Garet Guthrie was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leyton Zacherl, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Lakeview's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Saegertown, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Saegertown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .408. However, it's not like Lakeview struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Saegertown suffered a grim 18-8 defeat to Lakeview when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
