Basketball Recap: First Christian Takes a Loss

First Christian lost against First Assembly Christian Academy back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The First Christian Lions were beaten by the First Assembly Christian Academy Eagles 66-37. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.

Mathias Ellis and Brayden Pedersen certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Ellis went 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds, while Pedersen almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. Ellis has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played.

It was another big night for Sean James, who went 9 for 16 en route to 18 points in addition to eight boards and six steals for First Assembly Christian Academy. That's the most steals James has posted since back in November of 2024. Naccsa Garemore was another key player, going 7 of 10 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for First Christian and nudges their season record down to 4-11. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

First Christian has already played their next game, a 41-29 loss against Northside Christian Academy on the 24th. As for First Assembly Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-42 victory against Hope Christian Academy on the 28th.
