The Basha Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 68-36 defeat at the hands of Ventura. Basha was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-18.
Basha's loss came despite strong showings from Rose Bosch and Rylie Sword. Bosch scored eight points, while Sword scored ten points.
Basha struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ventura pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Ventura was led to victory by Skyler Knight and Kailee Staniland. Knight scored 20 points, while Staniland scored 25 points along with three steals. The contest was Knight's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Rea, who scored six points along with five assists.
Basha's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Ventura, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Basha will head out on the road to face off against Boulder Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Boulder Creek is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Ventura won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sunny Hills at 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Sunny Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
