Pen Argyl is 2-8 against Wilson Area since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Green Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Pen Argyl took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Notre Dame an 11-0 shutout. The Green Knights not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 22-4).

Pen Argyl let Lucas Lerch and Cayden Vishnesky run wild. Lerch went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Vishnesky went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Pen Argyl is 4-1 when Lerch posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-5-1 otherwise. Nick Haros was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilson Area). They were the clear victors by a 19-3 margin over Moravian Academy on Monday. With that win, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Wyatt Deemer made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Charles Fredericks looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Liam Coyle, who fired off three triples, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those three triples gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Bonham, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
Pen Argyl's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Wilson Area, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pen Argyl has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wilson Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
