Bruce is 8-2 against Eupora since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bruce Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Eupora Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Bruce is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Bruce came up short against South Pontotoc and fell 37-29. While losing is never fun, Bruce can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while South Pontotoc is ranked 64th).
Despite the loss, Bruce saw an underclassman step up: Laken Corbitt scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Corbitt scored a full 41.4% of Bruce's points, the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Bruce struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Eupora might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Nanih Waiya an easy 46-24 win. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eupora has scored all season.
Bruce has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Eupora, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Bruce strolled past Eupora in their previous matchup back in November by a score of 66-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bruce since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
