It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Camdenton Lakers can now relate to. They fell just short of Capital City by a score of 38-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Despite the loss, Camdenton still got an impressive performance from Kade Durnin, who rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 333 yards and a touchdown.
Capital City found their leader in underclassman Jaylen Thomas, who rushed for 184 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. Thomas was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Richardson, who gained 135 total yards and a touchdown.
Camdenton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Capital City, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Camdenton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Capital City will take on Helias at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Helias knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Capital City likes a good challenge.
