Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Northern Garrett

Northern Garrett waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Southern Rams 9-3. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Robert Deatelhauser looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jake Chambers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Wally Brands, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Northern Garrett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern only posted a batting average of .167.

Northern Garrett's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Southern, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Garrett will square off against Meyersdale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern, they will challenge Petersburg at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
