The Western Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 53-30 loss at the hands of Eastern. The matchup was a close 21-19 at the break, but unfortunately for Western it sure didn't stay that way.
Western's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kerrigan Marhoover, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Marhoover continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Ware, who scored nine points.
Western's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-15. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.9 points per game. As for Eastern, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Western will take on South Gallia at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Gallia presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Western in Ohio (South Gallia is ranked 214th, while Western is ranked 779th). As for Eastern, they will head out on the road to challenge Zane Trace at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Zane Trace focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Tuesday.
