Lubbock is 0-4 against Abilene since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lubbock Westerners will head out on the road to face off against the Abilene Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Lubbock's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
Lubbock might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-1 to Lubbock-Cooper, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Lubbock has struggled against Lubbock-Cooper recently, as their match on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite a strong season so far, Abilene has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 4-0 walloping at the hands of Monterey on Tuesday.
Lubbock's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-2. As for Abilene, they dropped their record down to 8-4-1 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Lubbock might still be hurting after the 4-1 loss they got from Abilene in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lubbock was down 3-0.
