McBain is 9-1 against Pine River Area since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The McBain Ramblers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pine River Area Bucks at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McBain comes in on eight and Pine River Area on three.
McBain can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They blew past Roscommon 65-42. Given McBain's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Roscommon is ranked 434th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Even though Pine River Area has not done well against Manton recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Pine River Area took down Manton 69-52.
Pine River Area's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Gugle, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Gugle hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Trevor Holmquist was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
McBain pushed their record up to 15-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Pine River Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for McBain against Pine River Area in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 77-47 victory. Will McBain repeat their success, or does Pine River Area have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
