Crestview and Garfield are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The Crestview Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Garfield G-Men at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Garfield is hoping to do what Champion couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Crestview's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Crestview claimed a resounding 60-18 victory over Champion. Given the Rebels' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Golden Flashes are ranked 646th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Crestview relied on the efforts of Luvrain Gaskins, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards, and Addison Rhodes, who posted 17 points along with five assists and five boards. Rhodes' evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Bri DiCross was another key player, putting up four points along with six assists, six boards, and five steals.
Crestview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Garfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. Everything went their way against Newton Falls on Tuesday as Garfield made off with a 40-17 win.
Crestview better keep an eye on Mandy Cardinal. She was instrumental in Garfield's win, going 8 of 12 on her way to 21 points. Cardinal has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Charlee Hill was another key player, posting three points.
Crestview's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 44 points. As for Garfield, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Crestview hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.7 points per game. It's a different story for Garfield, though, as they've been averaging only 39.6 points. The only thing between Crestview and another offensive beatdown is Garfield. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Crestview against Garfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 76-17 victory. In that match, Crestview amassed a halftime lead of 48-10, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
