Mountain View faced Bishop Kelly in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Mountain View sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Bishop Kelly. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Emersen Lukoic was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Tayelynn Puyleart, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Lukoic wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Mountain View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. Mountain View is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mountain View now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Bishop Kelly, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain View will head out to challenge Vallivue at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mountain View's pitchers better be ready for this one: Vallivue has averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season. As for Bishop Kelly, they will challenge Emmett at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Kelly is facing Emmett at the right time seeing as Emmett is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
