Basketball Game Preview: Lodi Academy Titans vs. Vanguard College Prep Lions

The Lodi Academy Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Vanguard College Prep Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Lodi Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Sacramento Waldorf back in December of 2024 (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Lodi Academy was outmatched by Sacramento Waldorf and fell 47-14. The game marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Ty Zinke put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted four points and seven steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.6 steals per game.

Meanwhile, Vanguard College Prep took a blow against Bret Harte on Friday, falling 61-22. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1306th, while the Bullfrogs are ranked 605th).

This is the second loss in a row for Lodi Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Vanguard College Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Lodi Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Vanguard College Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 49-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lodi Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
