The East Rutherford Cavaliers will challenge the McDowell Titans at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Rutherford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row dating back to last season, East Rutherford turned things around against Stuart W. Cramer on Friday. They came out on top against the Storm by a score of 67-54. The Cavaliers pushed the score to 61-38 by the end of the third, a deficit the Storm cut but never quite recovered from.
East Rutherford got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Andre Staley out in front who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Blake Suttle, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McDowell, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 44-42 victory over Alexander Central on Tuesday. The 44-point effort marked the Titans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
East Rutherford better keep an eye on Rylan Parkins. He was instrumental in McDowell's win, putting up 23 points. Parkins' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyson Rinnert, who posted eight points.
McDowell's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. As for East Rutherford, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. East Rutherford hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.6 points per game. However, it's not like McDowell struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
East Rutherford took a serious blow against McDowell when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 81-54. Will East Rutherford have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
