Lake Ridge is 2-8 against Waxahachie since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lake Ridge Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Waxahachie Indians at 7:30 p.m. Lake Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 matches -- so hopefully Waxahachie likes a good challenge.
Even though Mansfield Legacy scored an imposing 69 points on Tuesday, Lake Ridge still came out on top. Lake Ridge walked away with an 81-69 win over Mansfield Legacy. Given Lake Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Mansfield Legacy is ranked 250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ahmare Rose led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Eze Nwakamma was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Waxahachie's strategy against Mansfield on Tuesday. Everything went Waxahachie's way against Mansfield as Waxahachie made off with a 84-58 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Waxahachie.
Waxahachie got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Parker Jefferson out in front who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Jefferson hasn't dropped below 17 points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Isayah Pankey, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Lake Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 22 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 26-5 record this season. As for Waxahachie, their victory bumped their record up to 19-10.
Lake Ridge came up short against Waxahachie in their previous matchup back in January, falling 74-68. Can Lake Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
