Basketball Game Preview: McCormick Chiefs vs. Fox Creek Predators

The McCormick Chiefs will head out to take on the Fox Creek Predators at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, McCormick beat Thornwell 76-68.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead McCormick to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daruis Houston, who went 12 for 17 on his way to 26 points and three steals. Houston is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Williams, who posted 17 points and three steals.

McCormick smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Fox Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 86-75 to Augusta Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (71), the Predators still had to take the loss.

McCormick has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.4 points per game. As for Fox Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

McCormick was taken down by Fox Creek 74-47 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fox Creek's Justin Vining, who went 9 of 12 on his way to 21 points and three steals.
