After a string of four wins, the Millard South Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. Their rough 67-44 defeat to Gretna might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Millard South in their matchups with Gretna: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Jensen, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tyler Albert, who scored 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gretna to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Pokorski, who scored 22 points. Kade Cook was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Millard South's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-8. As for Gretna, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Millard South will challenge Millard North at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Millard North knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Millard South likes a good challenge. As for Gretna, they will be playing at home against Omaha Northwest at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Northwest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 211th, while Gretna is ranked 18th).
