Make it 11 blowout wins for the Jennings County Panthers this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Greenwood 65-11 at home. Given Jennings County's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Greenwood is ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jennings County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mollie Ernstes led the charge by scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. Ernstes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Juliann Woodard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Jennings County and bumps their season record up to 17-3. As for Greenwood, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jennings County will take on Columbus East at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbus East is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Greenwood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eastern Greene at 1:30 p.m. on January 13th.
