Lakewood hasn't had much luck against Wilson recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Having just played yesterday, the Lakewood Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Wilson Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Lakewood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Lakewood is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Scott's Branch, posting an 83-35 win. With that victory, the Gators brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.

Lakewood had a senior duo take command as Darius Franklin dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds and Carlos Franklin went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carlos has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Washington Broomfield, who posted four points and ten rebounds.
Lakewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Wilson waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They slipped by Varsity Opponent 67-66. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one point.
Wilson's win came from a few key players Lakewood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tristan Thompson, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. His afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Leonard, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards.
Wilson has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Lakewood, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lakewood has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Wilson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lakewood was dealt a bruising 74-25 defeat at the hands of Wilson when the teams last played back in November of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Leonard, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. Now that Lakewood knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
