The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cruz in their matchups with Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus: they've now lost five in a row.
Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus found their leader in underclassman Cedrick Carter, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks. Carter has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last 22 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of DeAndre Wilson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Cruz's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Intrinsic Charter School Downtown Campus, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-8.
Cruz's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cristo Rey Jesuit at 10:30 a.m. on February 10th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Cristo Rey Jesuit is ranked 757th, while Cruz is ranked 736th).
