The Legacy Lightning will head out on the road to face off against the Fairview Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Legacy is coming into the match hot, having won their last nine games.
While Legacy's win against Monarch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lightning narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Coyotes 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lightning have posted since May 11, 2024.
Legacy's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Sanchez, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairview). They walked away with a 14-9 win over Niwot on Thursday. With that victory, the Knights brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Oliver Peterson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fairview is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
At the plate, Jackson Wier was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Colin Potter also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Fairview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Fairview has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Legacy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
Legacy was able to grind out a solid win over Fairview when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lightning since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
