The Mayer Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a rough 52-30 defeat at the hands of Anthem Prep. Mayer has not had much luck with Anthem Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Leading Anthem Prep to victory were Cole Schirm and Rithik Kolli. Schirm scored 16 points, while Kolli scored 20 points. Kolli is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Mayer has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which lines up perfectly with their 5-15 record this season. As for Anthem Prep, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayer and North Phoenix Preparatory Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Phoenix Preparatory Academy is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Anthem Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against North Valley Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. North Valley Christian Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
