If the Wheatland Mules were riding high off their 74-24 takedown of the Everton Tigers on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wheatland took a 69-50 bruising from Niangua on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Wheatland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Niangua is ranked 34th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Niangua to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ethan Scheetz, who scored 27 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The match was Scheetz's third in a row with at least ten points. Clayton Henderson was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with 4 steals.
Wheatland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Niangua, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Wheatland will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Halfway. Halfway and Wheatland are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. Niangua is on the road again on Saturday and play against Dadeville at 5:30 p.m. on December 2nd. One thing working in Dadeville's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
