Softball Recap: Potomac Falls Gets the Win

Potomac Falls's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Rock Ridge Phoenix a 14-0 shutout. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Kalyn Biggs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Lyla Daugherty-Moysey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Reuss, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Potomac Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Ridge only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory got Potomac Falls back to even at 5-5. As for Rock Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Potomac Falls will challenge Dominion at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Rock Ridge, they will square off against Broad Run at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
