Baseball Recap: Highland Drops Season-High Score on South Albany

Highland's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Albany Redhawks a 14-0 shutout. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Porter Burrows tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Jacob Vincent was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Andrew Scott was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Highland's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for South Albany, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Highland has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 victory against Centennial on the 22nd. As for South Albany, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Newberg at 5:00 p.m. on April 1.
