With the playoffs underway, it shouldn't be a shocker to learn that this has been a helter-skelter week in the power rankings. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
No Stoppin 'Em
St. John's Prep was the better team in every quarter against Acton-Boxborough last week and consequently the better team overall. St. John's Prep took its contest against Acton-Boxborough by a conclusive 55 - 28 score. St. John's Prep did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. At 83 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between Belmont Hill (15th in the power rankings) and St. Sebastian's School (17th) did not disappoint. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Belmont Hill beat St. Sebastian's School 21 - 17. Despite the outcome, neither team improved or gave up its position in the power rankings.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
Duxbury went from a 21-point stomp in its prior game to a three-point tiptoe in its most recent one last week. It came out on top in a nail-biter against North Attleborough, sneaking past 17 - 14. One major factor in the win was the play of senior John Roberts, who earned one touchdown and 70 yards rushing the ball. With ten consecutive wins, Duxbury boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
Movin on Up
Milton claimed most-improved honors this week by climbing the power ranking ladder 22 rungs after its game against Westwood. Milton claimed a 20 - 12 victory over Westwood. 20 is shaping up to be Milton's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its win over Westwood the game before.
