The Estrella Foothills Wolves will challenge the Agua Fria Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Estrella Foothills is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Estrella Foothills came up short against Mesquite and fell 8-5. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Jayson Ross was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Schaeffer, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Agua Fria, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Moon Valley 11-4 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Owls considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Sebastian Heredia made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Agua Fria: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-10 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan Gomez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Dylan Lavin was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Agua Fria is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Estrella Foothills, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Agua Fria's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Estrella Foothills has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Agua Fria, though, as they've been averaging 11 hits. Given Estrella Foothills' sizable advantage in that area, the Owls will need to find a way to close that gap.
Estrella Foothills took their victory against Agua Fria when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Owls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
