It was a good run, but the IMater Charter Knights unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were beaten by American 82-46. While losing is never fun, iMater Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 453rd, while American is ranked 134th).
American's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennith Johnson led the charge by scoring 13 points. Another player making a difference was Derrius Black, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
IMater Charter now has a losing record at 4-5. As for American, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. IMater Charter will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Archbishop Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024. American will be home for the holidays to greet Booker T. Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
