On Saturday, The Boothbay Seahawks faced the Sacopee Valley Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Boothbay might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 22-20 to Sacopee Valley, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Boothbay's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it four in a row.
Boothbay's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-1 Dirigo (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.2% over those games). As for Sacopee Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Boothbay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sacopee Valley will head out on the road to face off against Old Orchard Beach at 6:00 p.m. on October 31st. Old Orchard Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Sacopee Valley likes a good challenge.
