Athens extended the longest winning streak in Northern Tier - Large this week by beating Wellsboro, 40-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Wildcats.
North Penn made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,231 from 8,472. The improvement came about via a 34-8 victory over Cowanesque Valley last week.
Tyler Birdsall was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 120 yards on 16 carries as Athens beat the Hornets. Austin Depew also contributed to the rushing game with 55 yards on the ground.
Taylor Hillson put up the best numbers through the air as the Panthers topped the Indians. He finished with 10 completions for 130 yards and one touchdown. Hillson's favorite target this week was Bryce Zaparzynski, who caught three passes for 48 yards.
Clark was the best wideout in the league this week as Jack Young's team beat Wellsboro. Clark racked up two receptions for 60 yards. Curt MOORE helped Athens' passing attack out by catching two balls for 39 yards.
North Penn's Hillson and Sam Bohnert have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Northern Tier - Large in both passing and receiving yards. Hillson has thrown for 913 yards this season, while Bohnert, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 18 catches for 378 yards. The Wildcats' Birdsall leads the league in rushing yards with 718.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Troy takes on Towanda. The Trojans are currently in second, while the Knights are in fifth.
