Lake Wales is a perfect 10-0 against Winter Haven since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Highlanders will welcome the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Lake Wales' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Winter Haven's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lake Wales came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Lake Region, falling 8-2. The Highlanders have struggled against the Thunder recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Anna Conroy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Keira Davis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Winter Haven came into Tuesday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Hardee 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted against the Wildcats since February 16, 2019.
Makiah McPhee made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. McPhee was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Stephanie Dye was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Reagan Barrett, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Lake Wales' defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Winter Haven, their win bumped their record up to 4-15.
Winter Haven's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lake Wales hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Winter Haven, though, as they've only averaged .211. Will they be able to contain Lake Wales' hitters?
Lake Wales took their victory against Winter Haven in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
